Office

The Parish Office, is next to the Educational Institute in Church Hill, Arnside, and is open on Wednesday mornings, from 10.30 to 11.30am. Copies of Planning Applications, received from the District Council, may be viewed during these times. The Clerk and the Chairman are usually in attendance, as also is the Planning Officer.

Meetings

Meetings are held in the Parish Office, Church Hill, Arnside, on the second Monday of each month (except for August), commencing at 7.15pm. Members of the public are entitled to attend these meetings, and may address the Council, during the agenda item set aside for “Public Participation”. Copies of Planning Applications, received from SLDC, are available for inspection from 6.45pm.

The Annual Parish Council Meeting is held on the second Monday in May, except where it coincides with a public holiday. In the year of an election (every four years) the Annual Parish Council Meeting is held on the fourth day following the day of election, or within fourteen days thereafter.

The Annual Parish Meeting (not to be confused with the Annual Parish Council Meeting) is usually held in March, although it can be held at any time between 1st March and 1stJune. In the interests of clarity, this meeting is often called "The Parish Assembly", as it involves a coming-together of many factions of the community. Because of the large, and sometimes vociferous, involvement of the public, this meeting is usually held in the W.I. Hall, Orchard Road, Arnside.

Notices

There is currently a Parish Council noticeboard standing against the side boundary wall of “Gallery H”, on The Promenade. This gives at least three clear days notice, and the agenda for any forthcoming meeting of the Parish Council, and at least seven clear days notice of the Annual Parish Meeting. It is also used to display the unconfirmed Minutes of the previous meeting.

The same notices should appear on this Web Site.

An additional noticeboard is fixed to the front wall of the Educational Institute, Church Hill, Arnside. This is intended to display other statutory notices (eg notices of accounts and audit), plus useful contact information, such as details for registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths.

Local Government Act 2000

In accordance with section 51 of the Act, Arnside Parish Council adopted the Model Code of Conduct on May 13th 2002, and all members have signed statutory Undertakings to comply with the provisions of the Code. In accordance with section 81 of the Act, a register of Members' Interests has been established by South Lakeland Council, and this may be inspected at South Lakeland House, Kendal. A photocopy of the Register entries may be inspected at any Ordinary Meeting of Arnside Parish Council, or by prior arrangement with the Clerk.

Freedom of Information Act 2000

On 11th November 2002, Arnside Parish Council adopted the "Model Publication Scheme for Local Councils (Core Classes only)", produced in accordance with section 20 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, and registered a Declaration to publish information in accordance with that scheme. The Information Commissioner has approved the declared adoption for the period 28th February 2003 to 28th February 2007.
