The Cemetery Chapel

At last, most of the work is complete, and the building is comfortably habitable. Electrcity and mains water services have now been installed. The toilet (suitable for Disabled People) is being installed, and the “Trench Arch” sewerage system is operational. The building extension iscomplete, and the new access point to the Chapel (Disabled-Friendly) has now been formed.

The Parish Council has now decided to move to the new premises, and an office has been formed so that this can become a permanent base for the hitherto ‘nomadic’ Council.

There is still a need to raise around £10,000 for other items, to properly finish the job, e.g. tarmacced car parking, but that should not seriously hamper our enjoyment in occupying this beatiful building.

As from June 1st, we think that we shall be able to offer the building to suitable local groups. In the near future, we hope to be able to offer a Broadband Wi-Fi connection to our telphone line. Although the toilet will be complete, the kitchen will need some further fittings before it becomes useable.

On June 10th, our Member of Parliament, Tim Farron, will be coming to officially open the Chapel complex. A group of our Councillors are preparing a number of stalls and exhibitions to make this occasion of wider interest. The full programme will be announced on this web site, nearer to the event.

Playground

This is a problem that will just not go away. Each year, we have it properly inspected, for insurance purposes, and each year we have patched-up any items which have been deemed to be sub-standard. Now we feel we have just about come to the end of the road, as most items are now worn-out.

Councillors Sue Gibson and Sue Hewett have got together to form a Working Group, to look at proposals for a completely new Playground. Where we will get the money from is a question that will have to be faced later. For now, it is necessary to determine what we would like. If you would like to inject your ideas, now is your chance. In the first instance, contact either of the two Sues, on the numbers shown below, with a view to joining the Working group.
