Planning Surgeries
The Planning Officer, Kate Bellwood, will be attending Arnside Parish Office, every Wednesday morning, at approximately 10.30am, until further notice, to discuss planning matters, or queries. She will leave just as soon as she has dealt with all the queries raised,or by 11.30, at the latest.
“Quality Parish” status
We are about to apply for accreditation as a “Quality Parish” (we are just waiting for the report of our October meeting to appear in the Westmorland Gazette). If we are successful, we’ll go for maximum publicity. If we fail we might be a little more restrained and re-submit as soon as we can.
The Cemetery Chapel
We were delighted to hear that we have been awarded £12,500 from the AONB Sustainable Development Fund, which brings our total raised to around £41,500. The work has started, but we still need around £13,500. We are hoping to have a full report, on this web site, in the near future.
“Buy a Brick”
We are still promoting, as heavily as we can, the “buy a brick” campaign. In return for your £5, you’ll not actually receive a brick, but you will have your donation marked on one of the paper bricks within the picture of the gable end, of the Chapel. We can no longer offer the entire wall, because we have already had an enthusiastic response, but if you can spare quite a bit of cash, for a good cause, we can fix you up with quite a few bricks. United Utilities’ Waste Water Transfer Scheme
Work in the village is now complete, save for a few finishing touches in Ashmeadow. Once all the work in Sandside and Milnthorpe has been finished, the system will be commissioned. If it all works satisfactorily, the old works will then be turned-off and dismantled. General feedback has been that it hasn’t been as bad as expected (although some traders may think otherwise). Compliments have been paid to G. & A.M. Lawson’s workers, and the Parish Council has written to thank them for their consideration.
