This is the official website of Arnside Parish Council, and is a notice-board site for all Parish Council matters.

We have incorporated the full text of the Arnside Parish Plan, produced by our community, and grant-aided by both the Countryside Agency and the Cumbria Rural Development Programme. The plan contains some very important recommendations for the future of our village, and members of the Parish Council will hope to be able to facilitate many of the matters referred to.

There is also included the current copy of the Arnside Broadsheet, printed copies of which are distributed monthly to every household within the area.

South Lakeland District Council’s Land Allocation Proposal – Inspector’s Hearing - Update - 20th November 2012

The inspector's hearings began in late October 2012 into the soundness of the South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) Land Allocations Proposal. Representations were made at the hearing from both Arnside Parish Council (APC) and the Arnside Parish Plan Trust (APPT). On the 19th November 2012 the inspector asked SLDC to review their proposals for land allocations in the Arnside & Silverdale AONB. The full text of the inspector's letter can be read HERE.

This represents a significant achievement for the APC/APPT team. The hearing has been suspended so that SLDC can develop, in partnership with APC & APPT, an alternative Land Allocations Proposal for our AONB. It is hoped that the hearing will resume in March 2013 when SLDC will have a proposal that is more in tune with the residents of Arnside.

On 20th November 2012, APC & APPT sent a joint statement to SLDC. It read as follows:-
Arnside Parish Council and Arnside Parish Plan Trust welcome the recommendation of the Inspector to SLDC that the Council should reconsider its approach to the Land Allocations within the Arnside and Silverdale AONB. We look forward to working with SLDC and others to bring the alternative smaller sites into play to further the progress we have made already on this issue. We await advice from SLDC regarding how they would like to move forward

This gives at least three clear days notice, and the agenda for any forthcoming meeting of the Parish Council, and at least seven clear days notice of the Annual Parish Meeting. It is also used to display the unconfirmed Minutes of the previous meeting.

The same notices should appear on this Web Site.
